Alcohol & other Drugs Council of Australia (ADCA) Works collaboratively with the government, non-government, business and community sectors to promote evidence-based, socially just, approaches aimed at preventing or reducing the health, economic and social harm caused by alcohol and other drugs to individuals, families, communities and the nation. It receives funding for its work through the Commonwealth Government's Community Sector Support Scheme and the National Drug Strategy Program.

   
  Australian Neuroscience Society The organisation of Australian neuroscientists dedicated to the advancement of the neurosciences by facilitating the dissemination of information pertaining to neuroscience, in teaching and research, by conducting meetings, seminars and lectures at local and national levels.
   
  Australian Professional Society on Alcohol and other Drugs (APSAD) APSAD raises awareness about the problems related to the use of alcohol and other drugs, and promotes improved standards in clinical practice, and in research into this and allied subjects.
   
  Australian Drug Foundation An independent, non-profit organisation that has worked for over 40 years to prevent and reduce alcohol and other drug problems in the Australian community.

  Neurosciences Australia A not-for-profit company limited by guarantee, initially established in order to administer the MNRF grant that was used to found the NNF.
   
Neurosciences Victoria A consortium of universities, research institutes and teaching hospitals working together to enhance scientific and technological capabilities in the field of neuroscience, and to facilitate commercialisation opportunities.
   
  Society for Neuroscience The Society for Neuroscience is a US nonprofit membership organization of basic scientists and physicians who study the brain and nervous system. system functioning.The Society's primary goal is to promote the exchange of information among researchers.
   
  Turning Point Turning Point is a specialist alcohol and drug organisation with a multi-dimensional, integrating treatment and support service delivery with research, education and training. They are involved in the development of policy and programs to prevent and reduce the harm caused by alcohol and drugs.
   
  National Drug and Alcohol Research Centre The Centre's mission is to increase the effectiveness of the Australian treatment response to drug-related problems. It is part of the National Drug Strategy, and contains information on drugs, research, and drug trends.
   
 

National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) One of the United States' National Institutes of Health, NIDA supports over 85 percent of the world's research on the health aspects of drug abuse and addiction.This site has information on common drugs of abuse , trends and statistics , grants and research, publications, and links to other relevant sites .   National Health Survey: Summary of Results, 2004-05 Contains a cross-section of survey results, including selected national statistics about long-term illnesses experienced; mental wellbeing; injuries; consultations with doctors and other health professionals; and health risk factors including alcohol consumption, smoking, exercise, body mass and dietary practices.

  2004 National Drug Strategy Household Survey - Detailed findings This report extends the analysis presented in 2004 National Drug Strategy Household Survey: First Results by providing more detailed information on drug use prevalence, drug-related behaviours and incidents, and support for drug-related policy and legislation. The report features analysis relating to young people-reflecting the inclusion in the 2004 survey of 12-13-year-olds-and new material on mental and physical health, also included for the first time in 2004.

Key results on drug-related awareness, knowledge, attitudes and behaviour are features of this report. Comparisons with 1991, 1993, 1995, 1998 and 2001 surveys are presented and population estimates of the numbers of consumers of both licit and illicit substances are also provided.
   
  Apparent Consumption of Alcohol, Australia This publication provides estimates of the quantity of beer and wine available for consumption for the years 1999-2000 to 2003-04. It also includes estimates of the apparent per person consumption of these products by persons aged 15 years and over. Estimates of pure alcohol available for consumption from these products, as well as from spirits, are also included, together with the apparent per person consumption of pure alcohol from these products by persons aged 15 years and over.

  The European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction (EMCDDA) The EMCDDA is one of the European Union’s decentralised agencies. Established in 1993 and based in Lisbon, it is the central source of comprehensive information on drugs and drug addiction in Europe.This site features news updates, statistics, country data profiles, reports and policy briefings.
   
  The Framework Convention Alliance Tobacco Fact Sheets The fact sheets provide summaries of current research, responses to common industry arguments, give some guidance on the relevant sections of the global tobacco treaty (the FCTC) and provide sources for more information.
   
  .WHO Global Alcohol Database The database brings together a large amount of information on the alcohol and health situation in individual countries and, wherever possible, includes trends in alcohol use and related mortality since 1961.
   
  .The Centre for Drug Research, (CEDRO) A Dutch organisation that has a socio-scientific orientation and regards drug use as natural human behaviour, primarily shaped by contextual and social variables, rather than the more common interpretation with a preponderantly criminal or medical orientation. However, it has some interesting statistics on drug use among the Dutch.
